Summer Fun

Today is the first day of my favorite season- Autumn!  However, I  want to share one of the highlights of my summer which was a two week visit from my niece, Mariah.  She has already started back to school and is in her Jr. year of high school.  I’m certainly the proud aunt and both my sister and I were thrilled to have her come up to the Carolinas!  Of course, we did the usual- shopping, going to the movies, pedicures, and hanging out at the beach, but we also ventured out to Myrtle Beach to visit Hard Rock amusement park which opened this past spring. Here are a few of the pix from our time together!

Of course, fresh flowers, a personalized gift basket, and welcome signs all make for the start of a lovely visit!

After a home inspection by brother, Al, and a few pix we went out to dinner...the two had driven 8 hours!

While at B@B, We ate at the Crab House...Rose & Mariah before Caviar...Rose & Mariah after Caviar- YUCK!

Next Stop... Hard Rock Park!

...Including this guy who was all too glad to stop and strike a pose!

 

VERY strange things, indeed!

There was also a live band, and an ice skating show (Too Cool!), and of course we made our own entertainment as well!

Back home and time for some days and nights at the beach!

 

Of course, we went out to eat at a few places. Here we are on Mariah's last night in the Carolinas- Hiro's Japanese Steakhouse with friend, Pearline!

 

We managed to squeeze in making shirts on this trip (I opted for pajamas). It turned out to be a lot of fun and we decided to do one every year when my niece comes to visit.

 

Christ Undercover!

I was making a comment on my friend Coni’s blog when my next blog topic hit me.  Christ, Undercover!  Coni was saying how she had a completely different view than another sister in Christ who had asked her how she reconciled being a Christian with working on the set of a t.v. show which had a lot of promiscuity in its storyline.  Coni saw it as an opportunity to shine for Jesus, to be a light in a dark place.  She also stated that she believed God opened the doors to get her the job working on the set of that show.  To quote Coni, ” I still believe that we are called to go into the big, wacky world and touch peoples lives.”  I agree wholeheartedly with that! 

Oftentimes,  I see myself as being on secret assignment from the Lord- being a light in a dark place.  I often look for ways I can be a blessing to someone- seeing it as another opportunity for the Love of Christ to shine through.  What I love about it is I can do it anywhere- at home, in my workplace, at the hair salon, in the grocery store, etc.  My assignment may be someone I know, an acquaintance, or a total stranger- it makes no difference.  The only thing that matters is obeying the Holy Spirit and letting the Love of God shine through. I may have an unction to give a particular gift, make a card or a sign, lend a helping hand or a listening ear, etc.  There are so many ways you can make a difference in someone’s life, simply by looking for opportunities to bless and being attentive to those around you. 

Love is always looking to bless.  Just read the Love chapter in 1 Corinthians chapter 13 and you will see so many ways to let the Love of God shine through.  Meditating on the traits of Love found in this chapter will change your life if you’ll let it.  What would happen if we all decided to look for ways in order to bless others today…if we decided to listen to that inner witness to act…if we were attentive to the needs of those we came in contact with- not looking at them as, perhaps, we customarily do, but as recipients of this wonderful love we have inside us- what would happen? 

…Perhaps, seeds sown for a changed life?- 

 Mission accomplished!

I was blessed to experience the glorious multi-media theatrical production Imagine Christmas this morning.  It was breath-taking, beautiful, and awe-inspiring all at once.  It was more than a theatrical treat-  it was a glorious account of the birth of Jesus, Lord and Savior.  If you’re anywhere close to Wilmington, NC and didn’t make it this morning, you still have an awesome opportunity to do so at 6:00 p.m. tonight!  Don’t miss it!  In less than two hours, you will be able to take part in this awesome event!  Now, imagine that!
